--------------------------
Kallima was the very first Catana 47 built in 2014 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Catana shipyard. She was designed by the naval architect, Christophe Barreau. Her owners are Swiss but she has a Polish flag, which is very convenient to pass on to a new owner or easy to delete if the new owners prefer to register elsewhere.
Construction includes carbon infusion, with Airex closed cell foam sandwich and carbon reinforcement. Beneath the waterline the hull has been reinforced with Twaron and there is protection against osmosis with the use of Vinylester resin. The bulkheads, the deck and the binimi have been reinforced with carbon fibre in order to gain more rigidity and increased performance on the wind and at speed.
The interior has been designed for comfort and long-term cruising.
Kallima is an exceptional long distance sailing catamaran combining elegance, performance and seaworthiness. This has been demonstrated by the first owners who cruised the Pacific Ocean from north to south for 5 years and sailing some 30,000nm. More recently with her current owners through French Polynesia, Islands of Fiji and New Zealand, then back to Fiji.
We are honoured to bring Kallima to market. She is a credit to the Catana yard but very much so to her owners, who should be truly proud of her stunning presentation.
Kallima has had three owners. The first, Serge and Brigitte Megret, a retired French couple with decades of sailing experience and the second, Nick Moriarty, his wife Tanja and two children Marcus and Lara, who purchased her in Tahiti and eventually sailed her to NZ where her current owners purchased her in 2023. All of Kallima's owners have lavished her with the very best of care and knowledge at no expenses spared, continually improving and upgrading her along the way.

A WORD FROM THE OWNERS:
"We owned a ULDB Monohull in the Caribbean for 8 years, cruising from the East Coast of the US down to the lesser Antilles. We loved the speed of that boat while the big draw back was the draft, especially in the Bahamas. When we joined friends on a delivery of a performance catamaran from Cape Town to the Caribbean we decided, that we would love to move from the monohull- into the catamaran-world. Space and comfort on passages as well as in the anchorage were attracting us. The Catana 47 combined the comfort of a catamaran with the sporty touch, that we did not want to miss. So that was where we were looking. While there are many catamarans out there in our opinion the Catana 47 is one of the seaworthiest designs, able to carry some load (even with small crew you will have to add weight on passages for fresh water and fuel), points to the wind better than many other designs due to the dagger boards, safe in the operation as you can singlehand the boat from the cockpit and last not least is in our opinion the ideal size of a cruising catamaran. The removal of the mainsail from the boat for the annual inspection is still doable by us, the owners. No need to call in a big team to help. When we finally found Kallima back in 2023 in Opua, NZ we considered ourselves more than lucky. We sailed her up to Fiji in 2023 where we spent the last years, hauling and drydocking in the wet season to have the necessary repairs done. When the rigging hit 10 years we exchanged the headstay (wire) and replaced the rest of the wire rigging with brand new Colligomarine Para-D synthetic rigging. John Franta, the owner of Colligomarine got involved himself in the upgrade and we flew over to California to pick up the new rig. Try that with wire or rod! So Para-D reduced the weight of the rigging significantly while increasing the strength at the same time. We kept on upgrading Kallima for our big dream, cruising the South Pacific, the last unknown for us. We have sailed the Med, crossed the North Atlantic, the South Atlantic, sailed the South China Sea and the Caribbean. We wanted to have a boat in very neat condition, where we would enjoy ourselves. The upgrades included the installation of a washer/drier (a 2,5kg unit with unbeatable 17kg weight), a sewing machine capable of sunbrella repairs, a portable generator to be able to cover the very unlikely event of a total power supply loss, new trampolines out of UHMWPE (a spare trampoline travels with us - just in case you need one at that lonely atholl), installation of new stainless steel exhaust elbows (a classic maintenance issue on Volvo Penta engines), mast climbing equipment (ever tried to climb up 20 meters to clear a halyard, while your crew is sick below decks?), electric starter for the outboard (ever seen your wife start a 25hp 2stroke? And yes, we love the 2stroke due to its weight advantage), loads of tools and spares. We enjoyed relatively short cruises in Fiji while we still had to work getting ready for the big adventure. Retiring in 2026 we realized that we might miss out on our dream due to health issues in the family. This could be your chance to pick up a well prepared Catana 47!" Jan and Pam, Kallima, Fiji June 26, 2026.
