Nautilus Yacht Management is proud to offer ‘Zéphyr,’ to the market.
The Bahia 46 is one of Fountaine Pajot’s most legendary catamarans ever produced and well known by serious sailors for its passage making abilities.
The Bahia 46 has earned her reputation through her robust construction, sea kindliness, sailing capabilities and is a great performer. She has a generous sail plan and, with her close cell foam core upper hull sections and decks, she is light for a cruising catamaran of her size at 9700kg.
With a high bridge deck clearance, low centre of gravity and aerodynamic profile, sea keeping is excellent and provides a fast, comfortable ride even in rough sea states. On passage, 200 nm days are easily possible with a high level of comfort aboard.
Fin keels provide good windward performance while keeping the draft at only 1.3m. It is safe and easy to dry the boat with a moderate tide for inspection or underwater maintenance.
The helm is centrally located in the cockpit, a position that enables safe watch keeping, efficient communication between the skipper and crew, and an excellent view of the sails.
The massive cockpit offers ample space for sailing or entertaining and provides a large safe enclosed area while underway.
The decks are open, spacious and free of clutter, making it an ideal area for children to play or to accommodate lots of guests on a day sail.
Wide steps at the transoms make great platforms for swimming, fishing or launching kitesurfing gear.
The large exterior table can seat 10 people and can be folded down to less than half the size to create more space in the cockpit when needed. The huge wet locker under the cockpit floor provides ample storage for jerry cans, extra ropes, water sports gear or any other outside equipment.
The visibility from inside the boat is outstanding, allowing a short-handed crew to keep an effective watch while attending to navigation, cooking or other indoor tasks. The saloon is well laid out with a huge dining table that can seat 10 people. With kids on board, the owners have also found this to be a great set up for schooling, projects and family games nights. Adjacent is the large galley with good ventilation, a view to the horizon, and its own designated floorspace so the cook can prepare meals in comfort and peace without interference from other crew members moving around inside the boat. There is generous counter and storage space, a massive dual fridge / freezer, double sinks with both freshwater and saltwater taps, a stovetop and oven.
Accommodation is spacious and comfortable with 4 large ensuite double cabins and two additional single berths forward with access from the deck inside the forward guest cabin. Originally intended for crew, one has a mattress, but both are currently used for storage.
Midship in each hull was designed as storage cabinets instead of the single berth sometimes on this model. The storage layout was factory-installed.
To enhance comfort and independence while cruising, the boat is equipped with an EchoTec watermaker which delivers 145L of fresh water per hour, a washing machine / drier, Starlink, and for entertainment 2 X 24” smart TV, one in the master cabin and one in the salon.
Zephyr comes fully equipped, with everything you need on board to sail away today, including tools, lots of spares, water toys and a brand new Zodiac 360 RIB with a 18HP outboard powerful enough for water-skiing.
This Bahia 46 was entirely re-powered in 2014, with reliable Volvo-Penta 40HP each. The engines have been religiously maintained and were recently serviced. The sail drives seals (top and bottom) were replaced in 2024, as well as the diaphragms.
The propulsion is enhanced by a set of 3-blades Kiwi Feather Props feathering propellers (new 2017). The blades are composite to minimise corrosion, weight and shock, and each blade can be individually replaced in case of damage. The new propellors have improved sailing performance by adding up to a knot of speed! And when the wind disappears, the new engines are powerful enough to move this catamaran along at 8 knots.
The standing rigging was just replaced in July 2024, including new chainplates and a new bowsprit (seagull striker) and a new gooseneck for the boom. The running rigging was replaced in 2023.
Zephir has an ample and intelligent power supply, with a total solar power of 1175W, including a brand new 450W solar panel just installed, MPPT charge controller and a B2B charger connected to both alternator and solar to speed up and maximise charge. The boat is set up with 220V AC and 12V DC, with shore power connected to a powerful Victron Phoenix Smart IP43 Charger.
In house power for all your AC needs is supplied via a powerful 3000 W inverter.
A full in and out water survey was just completed by an independent marine surveyor who flew to Fiji from Sydney, Australia and inspected Zephyr from top to toe prior to going to market, giving the boat a clean bill of health (report available upon inquiry).

A Word From The Owners:
"Bula!
Welcome to our beloved Bahía 46 - Zéphyr!
My name is Johanna and my husband Lutz and I have been cruising the South Pacific waters in the past three years with our two kids.
Our two boys, Tom and Levi, are now 12 and 6 years old. The little one just turned 6 and this means – in our home country Germany – Tom will have to start school this year in August.
We have been home schooling the big boy, but two at the same time – that’s too much for us as non-teachers and working parents :)
That’s why we are giving her away to a good new home!
We bought Zéphyr in Papeete, in French Polynesia, from a French family who had sailed across the world on her for 8 years. We decided on this Bahía since she offers a lot of space for all our diving kit, surf boards, an ocean kayak and even bicycles. The main reason why we chose her, though, is her outstanding sailing performance! She sails fantastically well even though, she is a catamaran. Before we moved onto Zéphyr we were sailing a cruiser/racer monohull (a beautiful Dehler) because we really enjoy sailing. On our passages from French Polynesia to Tonga and on to Fiji this catamaran now outperformed our expectations!
We especially bought her in French Polynesia, because we had sailed the Tuamotus on our first half-circumnavigation before – our all time favourite diving spot in the world! We have published a book on our first 4 years of cruising with kids (Delius Klasing ‚Work sail balance‘).So we spent months diving in the Tuamotus, and then when time was up (import tax!) we moved on to Tonga and finally Fiji. We are impressed by the welcoming Fijian culture and the endless cruising opportunities here.
Zéphyr was not only our home but also our office at times. We installed Starlink which is an absolute game changer for the working nomads. I am a self-employed architect and can work remotly at times. Lutz works in the IT consulting business and can easily work remotely. Most of the time it was best not to mention his whereabouts during his video calls, though – so he changed his background to snowy mountains :)
We are now at Vuda Marina, getting Zéphyr prepared for her new ownwers – our entire family is sorry to see her go. We will continue our sailing adventures once the home schooling part will ease up a bit! . " Johanna, Lutz, Levi and Tom. SY Zéphyr. Fiji, July 2024.
