A WORD FROM THE OWNERS:
"In 2019 we set our sights on cruising Mexico and making a Pacific crossing to French Polynesia. We put together a small group of avid adventurers / sailors and set our goals to find a high performance cruiser that would allow for great sailing, group entertaining, easy to handle fishing, easy on/off and rigged for safety at sea. After an exhaustive search of boats in the 54-65 foot range trying to meet both our specific hardware needs and price point, we found Foxfire. A Robert Perry designed “California Sled” completed in the year 2000 at the DENCHO boat yard in Long Beach. One of Perry’s favorite designs. “Yacht Design According to Perry” 2008. We took delivery in early 2021 and set out to fully prepare her for long distance offshore cruising. With new rigging, new North Sails, full complement of modern safety gear, top of the line tender and outboards, we were ready head out the Golden Gate and turn left. Our shake down cruise was along the California coast which prepared us for a full season on Mexico’s Pacific Coast and The Sea of Cortez. Diving and fishing were regular events. Entertaining family and friends was the best. April of this year 2024, we launched off the Baja coast and made a great crossing to The Marquesas and Tuamotu’s. We have completed our goals and all partners are ready for new adventures in their lives. So it is time to pass on the ownership of Foxfire to a new family or group, seeking a safe, strong and super fun vessel to further explore the South Pacific and beyond.
We are Foxfire’s second owners. The previous owner has had numerous custom boats built for fast sailing in Southern California waters. Working with Robert Perry to design and oversee the build of Foxfire, produced a very special cruiser with features not found on any production boat. As an example, the cockpit allows for easy and safe movement from swim platform to main salon, with hand holds every step of the way. Not accustomed to dual steering, we have found this to be a great attribute for both insuring good sail trim but also for egress and ingress. The Leisure Furl boom and fractional rig with most lines led aft in the cockpit, allow for safe and easy sailing. In the boom furling allows for great sail shape with full battens, unlike in the mast furling. Our deep draft keel creates stability and speed, reducing the wetted surface area as we head to weather. The hard dodger and newly added aft rigid Bimini make for a drier, shady enclosure where we spend 75 percent of our daytime while under sail. The large cockpit affords multiple seating options for at anchor or underway."
