The Neel 52 is a highly sought-after bluewater cruising trimaran. It stands out for offshore passage-making by combining the massive, single-level living spaces of a multihull with the exhilarating, high-performance sailing dynamics and upwind pointing ability of a third central hull.

Superior Bluewater Performance

  • High Daily Mileages: The trimaran design, drawn by Marc Lombard Yacht Design, is significantly lighter than comparable catamarans (it is also 1.5T lighter than the Neel 51), and easily achieves a conservative  average cruising speed of 10 knots. It is capable of easily covering 200 nautical miles in a day. (During our test sail, which unfortunately happened on a calm day in Fiji, Makani sailed at 4.6 knots in 5 knots of wind. It only takes a breath of wind to make her glide effortlessly).
  • Upwind Pointing Ability: Unlike many cruising cats that struggle to sail close-hauled, the Neel 52's central hull acts much like a monohull's keel (it also has a fin keel), allowing it to point higher into the wind and maintain stability in heavy seas.
  • Safe Motion: The three-hull configuration prevents the aggressive pitching and rolling motions typically experienced in rough weather on two hulls.

Streamlined Single-Crew Sailing

  • Centralised Helm: All major sail control lines and electric winches are led to an elevated, ergonomic helm station. This configuration allows a solo sailor or short-handed crew to easily sail, reef, and manoeuvre the boat.
  • Excellent Visibility & Communication: The raised helm sits adjacent to the social deck areas, preventing the helmsman from feeling isolated and making teamwork on passage effortless. The Neel 52 design also improved from the 51 model with the helm accessed via companionway stairs in the cockpit rather than only from the side deck. (Makani's owners usually enclose the whole cockpit during night passages, ensuring protected access to the helm area as well.)

Innovative Living & Layout

  • The "Cockloon": Neel's signature design merges the cockpit and the main saloon into one continuous, open-plan indoor/outdoor living area. Large folding doors completely open the space to enjoy panoramic views and abundant natural light.
  • Spacious Staterooms: Unlike many trimarans where the owner sleeps in a small cabin, the Neel 52 provides massive owner's quarters. This includes a multi-level master suite, private head and office.
  • The perfect yacht for a large family or to sail with crew or friends.  Makani has a two-level master suite, but also has 4 other cabins, plus an optional crew cabin currently used for storage. Her guest accomodations comprise of 2 large double cabins, a smaller double or large single cabin and finally a  bunk cabin in the centre forward. In total, there are 4 head areas, 2 with separate showers and toilets.

Technical Space and Autonomy

  • Engine Room & Workshop: The central hull features a massive, dedicated mechanical room that provides walk-around access to the main 110-hp Yanmar engine, generator, watermaker, and lithium battery banks.
  • Abundant Storage: The deep hulls offer superior storage for spare parts, sails, and a dive compressor, while the coachroof supports flush mounted (recessed) 1,920 watts solar power.

- A Word From The Owners-

"Makani" is more than just a sailboat – she has been a loyal companion on our journey and created unforgettable memories. In October 2023, the adventure began for a Swiss family to the most remote surf spots in the world. The journey started in La Rochelle and took them across the Atlantic, the Caribbean, the Marquesas, and French Polynesia, NZ and  Fiji. After two and a half years of intense travel, the trip of a lifetime now ends in 2026 in Fiji. And with a heavy heart, "Makani" is now offered for sale. We also offer to deliver Makani to her new owners anywhere in the world.

Makani isn’t just ready — she’s better than new! Every system is in place, every early glitch fixed, and countless upgrades and improvements have been made along the way. She’s fully outfitted for serious bluewater cruising, built for true independence — whether you're off-grid for weeks or anchored in the farthest reaches of the world. And when it comes to long passages, Makani has already proven herself — safe, comfortable, fast and surprisingly easy to sail across oceans. Ready to sail today, no work needed. Storage? More than you'll ever use."

Martin, Fiji, May 2026.

- Broker's Comment-

Nautilus Yacht Management is immensely proud to present the 2023 Neel 52 trimaran Makani.

Makani is hull number 1. She was the first to be created by the Marc Lombard design group, and as such was lavished exceptional attention.

Makani is also the only Neel 52 trimaran available in the world as a true proven bluewater equipped yacht, having sailed halfway around the world, new build wrinkles ironed and improved continuously along the way.

She is available turn key with everything you need to step aboard and begin your own journey.

The Neel 52 is a modernised, sleeker evolution of the popular Neel 51, featuring significantly lower weight (~1.5 tons lighter), more aggressive inverted bows, improved cockpit ergonomics, better weight distribution, more sail area forward, safer hem access,  and higher interior versatility.

While maintaining the same overall length, the 52’s main hull has a deeper curve to improve maneuverability.

Instead of Balsa core, it uses enhanced vacuum-infused foam sandwich construction for improved strength-to-weight ratios

The Neel 52 is widely considered a "game-changer" in the luxury cruising market because it successfully challenges the catamaran-dominated world by offering superior sailing performance.  Its multiple awards, including Multihull of the Year over 50 feet (2025) and nominations for European Yacht of the Year 2024, are earned through a unique combination of high-speed performance, incredible layout flexibility, and the "cockloon" living concept.

Please read on and click on the Additional Descriptions for the detailed inventory and list of recent upgrades. This truly beautiful yacht is continually maintained and improved at no expense spared. Her owners are on board and will welcome you for an inspection or via video call if you wish.

Nautilus Yacht Management has carefully curated all our listings to suit bluewater cruising for the past 16 years, choosing to represent only immaculately presented yachts with the features and qualities needed for offshore voyaging and live-aboard. We have assisted hundreds of cruisers, new or experienced, to discover this magical lifestyle.
